(a) What is the main difference between a multimedia presentation and an interactive multimedia presentation? [2]
Interactive multimedia presentations incorporate built-in interaction between the user and the computer, this type of interaction is not present in a multimedia presentation.

 

(b) From a historical perspective, describe how the means of interaction between the user and computer has evolved. [5]
Interaction between the user and the computer has evolved from the use of a keyboard to the trackball, to touch-sensitive screens, to the use of audio and music, to voice recognition.

 

(c) Name three facts that a multimedia professional should take on board in order to produce a successful product. [3]
  • The potential of this technology as a communication technology.
  • Recognize the professional fields that this technology can be applied to.

(d) What is an interactive multimedia Kiosk? Give one example of where an interactive multimedia kiosk could be (or is bring) used. [4]
Multimedia kiosks are automated information data-entry and transaction centres.

A MM kiosk can be used to provide transport information and ticketing capabilities - for local transport, or airport check-in.

 

(e) Name two possible applications of multimedia technology, and discuss why they are particularly suited to this technology. [6]
